A mirror-image copy of all important data including current
transactions
is maintained on both systems.

Software crash prevention through "Process Monitoring".
If a critical process such as a database engine fail crashes or is
killed
accidentally, process monitoring will attempt to restart it automatically.

Protection against server hardware failure through system failover.
If one of the servers fails, the other server knows within a few seconds
